Speed is a vanity metric. You can move at Mach 10 in a circle and get nowhere. Momentum is different. Momentum is velocity with mass/direction. It is the ability to crash through obstacles rather than steering around them.
The Velocity Manifesto posits that time is the only non-renewable asset. Every second spent in 'deliberation' or 'consensus-seeking' is a second stolen from execution. We operate on a 48-hour refraction cycle. What traditional firms do in a quarter, we attempt in a weekend.
This forces a brutal simplification. You cannot build a cathedral in 48 hours, but you can build a bridge. And often, the bridge is what you needed all along. By compressing the timeline, we boil away the unessential. There is no time for perfectionism, only for the raw, kinetic energy of shipping.
When you move fast enough, you generate your own gravity. Problems that plague static organizations—boredom, politics, stagnation—cannot attach themselves to a projectile moving at escape velocity. We do not solve these problems; we outrun them.
